I remember working in an office in '99-'00, and complaining about how terrible Ask Jeeves was. My buddy told me about this new thing called "googol, but spelled wrong." In the beginning, it was soooo much better than it is now. There was no corporate influence, just a bunch of guys who wanted a better search engine. Greed eventually corrupts all things.

All of the great flash animation/game sites like newgrounds, weebl's stuff and homestar runner. These might all still exist, but were around to entertain us long before youtube.

Got my first computer in '85. No big businesses, no jurisdiction, just pure anarchy.

A common saying was "97% of the people online are guys. They other 3%.. are lying."
I am female. Fun times, fun times.

“‘Under Construction’ banners, images, and gifs. They were on every page, the page was always ‘under construction.’

You’d put one there while you were writing the html then take it out when the final version was done, but way too many people never bothered with that step.”
