Nobody tells you this."
"Stand up to bullies. Even if you’re not the one being picked on. I regret not doing more for kids that really struggled in school"
"Learn how to learn.
If school is hard for you, there are study techniques that can help. Get a tutor – this can be a classmate or a friend that gets good grades – it doesn’t have to cost a lot.
If school is easy for you, you’re going to have your @$$ handed to you freshman year of college (this was me!). Take harder classes, if available. Find something you’re bad at, and then try to get good at it."

The guy who runs track might be writing a D&D campaign. You can code computers and be a bad@$$ at Judo or Karate. You can wrestle and study astrophysics
Etc!"

The teenage years are just one small chapter in the book of your life!"
My advise is to start saving heavily for retirement as soon as you get your first job. Regardless if you make little money, save a lot and invest it. You will be very happy that you will be able to retire at 55 yo even if you had a family and bought an expensive house
Assuming you have to be in the top 10% in each of the categories to be considered an athlete or a smart kid, the chance of being both is only 1%. On top of that, true geniuses are maybe only 2% of the population.
The wrestler studying astrophysics probably isn’t that good at either.
False. Forget about the past, and don't fret about the future. Live in the present, and you will be happier.
(plan ahead for retirement, though, that sh#t is important)
Plan for the future and learn from the past, but understand that the past is guilt and the future is anxiety. Live in the present.
It wasn't a "dichotomy," either. There were many niches- jocks, preppies, goths, nerds, mean girls, pot heads, ROTC geeks, etc. I started out as a ROTC geek, quit and became a nerd, but turned into a pot head by my senior year.
There were also losers who had no friends at all- like the ones who insisted there were "harmful dichotomies" so they could feel better about themselves.
