Julie, makes sense. since the noaa has altered the weather records in the last decade. we aren't hitting record temps or record fires for at least 90 years ago.
It's most probably due to (slightly) shifting magnetic poles along with effect of the "Chandler Wobble" of the Earth's axis. Earth's spin has slowed down before within the time span of us actually measuring it, and likely does this sort of thing frequently (on a cosmic scale.) Climate change may be a contributing factor, but is likely not the catalyst.
This is something science hasn't put much research into yet because there hasn't been much of a reason to do so until now. The research is being done conducted as we speak. I'll let you know when the scientists release the data, and until then you can keep believing all the misinformation you get from Fox News and social media.
Julie, There's friction between the spinning Earth and the atmosphere. The hotter the atmosphere becomes the less dense it becomes, and therefore there will be less friction. The less friction there is the faster the spin will be, up to a point. Climate change will also affect fuel efficiency and the ability to fly of winged aircraft. Ask an experienced pilot how much more difficult it is to get a plane off the ground when the atmospheric temperature is high.
All you idiot climate change deniers out there should really reconsider. Not for you- nobody gives a sh#t about you except you- but for your children, and everyone else's children. They're the ones who are going to be here dealing with it all.
spouting self righteous nonsense with a side order of sociopath and narcissism. only the 'gold star for participation' generation could claim empathy, while showing a lack of it.
So if our kids have to deal with a couple degrees of warming, will it be easier to deal with it using fossil fuels for air conditioning or relying on intermittent wind and solar that cannot handle the load of air conditioners? Fossil fuels have reduced "climate" deaths by over 90% in the last century. You want to erase that?
In the 1920's there were over 450,000 climate related deaths annually (floods, droughts, storms, extreme heat/cold, etc.) That number today is less than 30,000 per year. OFDA/CRED International Disaster Database. You can thank indoor climate control, advanced irrigation, advanced building structures, etc. etc. - all brought to you and powered by fossil fuels.

Apparently not. Years ago I jokingly said that earthquakes were caused by climate change. Now some people actually believe that.
I'd like someone to explain how climate change can effect the earth's rotational speed...
Sure you did...

*affect
ah yes the political climate does definitely affect it. just like every climate accord held in the last 40 years...
Can you explain how climate change would effect the earth's spin.

So when there's more cloud cover, the earth's spin slows down?
Here's a quarter. Go find out.

Prove it.

Bottom line: An honest cost/benefit analysis of fossil fuels shows that they are a net benefit.
