Myth: These have all been thoroughly researched to ensure accuracy.

Fact: #19 Piranha have killed many humans. Just google Paraguay Piranha attack and you'll find news articles indicated 4 people killed by piranha this year.

#4 Edison never invented anything. He was an idea man. He'd think of something that he could market and sell, and then hire other people to invent it for him. Then he'd take all the credit and screw over everyone around him.

#5 This has always been taken out of context. Our brain functions constantly at full capacity, but there's too much going on for us to be consciously aware of. We can only be cognizant of about 8-10% at any given moment. Things such as breathing, or seeing your nose, as well as others like forming memories, regulating body temperature, etc., are all happening in the background.

Elbert,

in addition, the brain has highly specialised areas. not all are always needed to the same degree.

Many of these "myths" I've never heard, and a lot (like #21) are things that children believe. Although, that may have changed with this generation.
PS- (#50) Eating slows metabolism, which is why bears hibernate...

#49 Cleopatra was born in Egypt in 69 BCE. Her ancestor Ptolemy I Soter, was a Macedonian Greek general who declared himself Pharaoh in 305/304 BCE after Alexander conquered Egypt. As a result, the Ptolemaic Dynasty was heavily influenced by Greek culture.

#10 Washing your hair with moisturiser helps prevent split ends. Hair does not have blood vessels, so the cells are dead and cannot repair themselves. The worst thing you can do is bleach them, which produces a chemical burn.

#43 Too much brushing can wear down enamel and make gums recede faster.

#38 Toxins are removed from the blood by your kidneys and flushed out when we urinate. That's it. There's literally no other way to remove toxins from our bodies. Whatever product your buying is a sham, and you've been ripped off.

Archibald,
Did you even read #38? Look it up. The ONLY thing sweating does is cool the body.
Excess body heat is used to convert the beads of sweat into vapor, and you start to cool down.
Sweat is 99% water and 1% salt and fat. You CANNOT sweat toxins out of the body.

Thias, Technically you don't sweat it out of the inside of your body but from your pores the toxins. Still you breathe out toxins and sh*t out toxins from inside of your body, not just pee out. How do I know this, I am a toxicologist.

Jettie, Breathing out, sweating out, sh*tting out. Oh and your liver want a word with you, it's much more important detoxifying organ than the kidneys.

#46 This one originated from experiments on the body's reaction to extreme cold.
Subjects were bundled up, and infrared photos were taken. They neglected to cover their heads, however, so when the photos came back, it looked like more heat was escaping from the head.
Tests were also done underwater with the same results because the subjects wore wetsuits with their heads again exposed.

Hosea,

Yeah - they are totally missing the point of this - you do lose more heat from your head if it is not covered up and the rest of you is. This is where the saying comes from and the advice to wear a warm hat.

warm your core. the body takes care of the extremities

Katarina 2 year s ago
Midge, Yeah. Your core will be nice and toasty, as you watch your fingers and toes fall off from frostbite.

In extreme circumstances the body sacrifices the extremities to preserve the core, and life.
