Just think of all the brilliant people that got ignored or worse just because they were the wrong gender or skin colour. look at things like witch trials. Wise women got killed because men felt threatened. How many smart people came to the US because they hoped for an opportunity only to be told sorry your degree isn't recognized here. Hell, how many world-changing inventions are kept secret to protect some corpos bottom line?
