Tolkien paid very little attention to describing any details of the appearances of characters. The Balrog, for example, was only described as a menacing creature shrouded in fire, darkness and shadow. That's it.
Some characters, like Tom Bombadil and Gandalf were described in a little more detail, and to that effect, #1 is so far off as to be offensive.
Really, all of these are terrible. Why the heck does Frodo have face tattoos?? This "artist" s#cks.

What's with all the detail in Gimli's face, and Aragorn's looks smooth as a baby's bottom? It almost looks unfinished
