If you have been on the intertubes long enough you will have noticed that there are two ways of "opening" a banana and each one falls in and out of favor every couple of years untill people "discover" the Other way that becomes in vogue.
It wouldn't happen if one of the ways was always and obviusly superior in all instances.

This is not an issue if the banana ripens on the tree, the skin peels back ridiculously easy. Another thing...why oh why are you peeling an unripe banana????
