There is a big difference in plating a meal artfully and serving food not on a plate in an avante garde style. I would never go back to any of these places after seeing some of these travesties of experimental dining.

I get the feeling that at a lot of these restaurants management and staff are out of sight and earshot, laughing their heads off at the diners who accept this kind of thing as being normal and desirable.
