I only ever fly with a carry-on bag. Anything else I might need I buy while at my destination; and then pay UPS or Fed-Ex to ship it all back to my home. I have a lot less worries and headaches doing it this way. And 'yes' they treat my things far better than any airline has.
Sorry, anyone that is still dumb enough, even after the airline warns you, to put anything valuable in checked luggage, kinda deserves it. Stuff going missing is the new norm. Do. Not. Put. Valuables. In. Checked. Luggage. And yes, there are ways to have your stuff transported safely. Marking stuff "Fragile", LMAO.
