uh, dude...liquids flow...they seek the point at which the surface is level...which is why lakes and rivers have such odd shaped shorelines...at least that's what /my/ education taught /me/.

Tidal range in open ocian is like 1m it only gets much higher on the coasts even then it is at most about 16m at the most, radius of the earth is roughly 6 371 000 m as far as smooth/even things go that is damn near perfect.

The tidal variation is caused by external factors. Left to itself in a perfectly isolated system, the level of the ocean would be constant. Regardless, a typical off shore wind turbine is about 100-150m tall. The local tidal variation would not be enough to obscure 80% of the turbine in the background of the photo. Not to mention that if it did, the blades would be underwater.

You're not kidding. I handed 3 dollars and 69 cents to a new barista at a local coffee shop and she actually had to ask for help counting the change I gave her. She looked at the coins as if she'd never handled cash before in her life.
