Studied the most hated artist on the planet, and just because he was too stubborn to go into architecture and wanted to paint people (which he was terrible at while his location paintings were awsome), he had to speak his mind and join an ignoble cause that killed millions.
#22 I see it more in terms of technology. Cameras took over portraiture and art had to move beyond literal representations of the world. Tech made the portrait artist (largely) obsolete. Why train a person to do a machine's job?
