A lot of Japanese stuff also has its roots in China. For a lot of things you roughly can say Asian common.

#2 as it should be everywhere. but we all know that it wouldn't work in the US because people would just ignore it and dump it all in the same bin.
#3 they are not still wearing them they have always been doing that. just not as excessively as now.
#5 they are all made by the same guy and it is like his whole job they are usually a melody version of the station's name.
