#23 - yeah, this is insanely dumb...40K people in 160 acres = 160K people/sqmi. Manhattan, hardly a liberal utopia, by comparison is 75K people/sq mi. So your plan is double the urban density of Manhattan. Genius. 35

Actually it's not insanely dumb. It simply not safe: The houses can not be reached by fire fighters and ambulances in any way. We still need streets, there is no way around them yet! At least not with that kind of urban planning.

#33 How many of those riders commute when it rains, or for that matter, snows?
#34 Hardly a snow storm. I've seen more snow falling on the Texas Gulf Coast.

#1 The background to the rumor is a campaign by the road safety organization NTF and the car manufacturer Volkswagen that ran in 2010 and 2011.

#33 A bit misleading. Those vehicles can each hold 4, 5, or more people, so the number of arrows would be similar. And as stated previously, it would look very different in bad weather, but that would not fit with the agenda of the person who posted it.

so:
1.) where ARE all these cars now?
2.) how do they get to work in the next city? not everyone (can) work(s) near his living place, there are not good public transportation possibilities in most places over city borders.
3.) wind, snow and rain - the bikers pain (and so fun with kids) or bigger loads of groceries
