My mother drove stick shift. My wife drives stick shift. My sisters drive stick shift. Common in Europe.

In the US it is not the case though. But it was also not the case 30 years ago. EU is more into tech that saves material, energy and money. Stick shift does that. Cost less, and if you learn to properly use it, it has advantages.
In us they value time more -or- differently.

Born in 1980. My first car (1996) was a 1970 mustang manual shift. My dad agreed to allow me to purchase it but I had to drive it home. He made me learn the hard way and I'm grateful for it. I had only ever drove the 1955 chevy farm truck in granny gear before.
