The Hummer brand was founded by AM General in 1992 and became part of General Motors Corporation in 1999. Under this brand, civilian versions of military off-road vehicles were produced until 2009 when the production of Hummer vehicles was halted due to bankruptcy. In 2021, the brand was revived with the release of the new Hummer EV Peak U. The company has very ambitious plans for the future of the brand.
