The moronic Canadian enviro-zealots won't allow loggers to thin the forests so they end up with uncontrolled wildfires with the excess trees and brush lying around. So not only did they fail to 'save the trees' but they released tons of smoke into the atmosphere.
California has the same strategy with the same results.

we produce a lot of lumber. if you think we do that without cutting down trees (which are in forests) then i have a bridge to sell you.
the warmer, drier weather results in drier fuel, which allows any fire that starts to burn and spread faster and easier
