Angela,

In Germany, we have what is called a Polterabend.

a brief description from Wikipedia.

Polterabend is a German wedding custom in which, on the night before the wedding, the guests break porcelain to bring luck to the couple's marriage. The belief in the effectiveness of this custom is expressed by the old adage: "Shards bring luck" (German: Scherben bringen Glück). The expression is derived from a time when the word "shard" referred to the unbroken clay pots of pottery makers, and not just the broken pieces. It was said that a full jar was a lucky thing to have, therefore the expression "shards bring luck".

#5, honestly, I'd rather have a new Peugeot over a new BMW. Modern BMWs are a nightmare to work on...

Sanford, Considering modern automobile manufacture, I'd rather have an old anything.

Sanford,

BMW's are overpriced Chevy's. They're cr#p. They break down a lot and cost a fortune to fix. Seen it over & over again.

Sula,

Was a Chevy guy for 15 years until I found out that frequently replacing alternators, water pumps, compressors, wiper motors, etc. etc. and rebuilding transmissions every 80k miles wasn't normal.

Pamela, Oh for pity's sake; do you really think someone bothered to video the cat's predicament, then left without assisting it or notifying someone?

And whomever extracted the cat probably got clawed/bit for their trouble, because ... cats.
