Molly, intend to agree with you - I think it’s kind of “over the top” paranoia - but if my 20ish daughter was living on her own some of them might not be a bad idea.

Don't waste time being polite to nosy strangers. A loud, emphatic "NO!!!" is called for in a lot of these situations. You don't owe anyone any explanations.

hmm. was my first thaught also.. where is the problem with telling them thats its none of their buisness..
on the other hand i see how some men behave totally different depending on if they talk to me or with my gf for example... some start discussions, some get angry. I woudn't be suprised if the reaction you get from someone who has no respect for you and sees no value in your words, would not be the one you aimed for. so... sending them off with wrong information may has some worth to keep their minds occupied for the time being.
