Kenneth,
Great story by the late Harlan Ellison, made into a movie starring Don Johnson. One of my favorites, and the movie had a great cast, including the inimitable L.Q. Jones, who became good friends with Johnson. It was the first Ellison story I ever read, and the reason I read the rest of his work, including the wonderfully titled "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream".

#11 Sand is made from the ocean constantly churning the sediment on the seafloor- rocks, minerals, shells, etc. Now think about all of the places in the world where there is sand and about how all of those places used to be the bottom of a great sea. Sahara, Gobi, western US....

Di,

This is the part where some uneducated idiot says "Oh, yeah? Prove it! No one was there, so you can't know! I can't understand it, so it must be a lie! Fake news!"

Ansel,
Well he's obviously in the middle of shearing sheep which involves touching animals that don't really bath that often. Can't do it without getting your hands dirty...

#11 Ahhh, this is "sand" from tropical regions with coral reefs. Instead of pulverized stone, it's made of all the organisms that live there

"Rocks On The Lake Baikal"

"Rocks on the lake Baikal get heated from the sunlight every now and then and melt the ice beneath. After the sun is gone, the ice turns solid again thus creating a small stand for the rock above. It is called the Baikal Dzen."
