Basil, he is right. Employees are paid to be productive, not socialize. Businesses have a hard enough time making money with good employees - employing slackers can cause a business not to meet goals and end up going out of business.

Vickie, People are more productive when they feel needed, free and able to socialize. If you can't stand people talking to each other, buy robots.

Basil, technology is not there yet but you can bet when it is slackers will be the first to be replaced.

Basil, it depends a lot on the job you are doing. It is not okay to socialize with a co-worker when you are a cashier and helping a customer.
Or when you have to stop working to make the conversation (if this happens too often/long).

#21 if this is true. your boss is totally lying because he's seeing if you stick to your priorities or the company's. if you're valued at my company and threaten to quit, they'll give you a fat raise...

#28 this is abuse, contact HR and get fmla and accommodation setup. i had this sh#t happen to me. my boss is all, why aren't you here or called in sick? im like wtf? im sick and been to the dr every day! later i complained and got it set up and guess what? the boss didn't get fired, she got moved to another department.

Alonzo, not sure why the down votes. He’s right, the door opens inward. Total non-issue.

#14 That's what happens to most of the "recycle" bins. It's a feel-good gesture.

#25 Are you worried that the rubber bands will go stale?

#6 typical moron. Why couldn't you take out as many as you wanted. Why do you give a gift with a job attached to it. Next time just keep the whole box.

#16 your coworker has Parkinson's

#14 Most all recycling on the west coast of the US has been canceled for the last 10 years because China wouldn't take it anymore and the US has been just throwing it in the trash. It's a social joke at this point.
