You don't use locks for high weights for the safety of the lifter. The lights are installed too low. Be smarter.

Philipina, it’s much safer to not have spring clips on - in an emergency you want to be able to dump the weight, not get trapped under it. Clips may give you a sense of security but they are almost never a good idea. It’s embarrassing to have to dump but better to be embarrassed than injured (or dead).

Sandra, dump (in an emergency), not throw. And yes, they’d much prefer that than to have a customer get seriously injured or die. Most decent gyms have padded floors in the free weight area to help absorb the impact.
