In 2022 the first doses of Zolgensma were administered in Sweden.
Since this drug is for children the billed cost was $0. In Sweden healthcare is free up until you are 20 years old. Adults pay about $40 for a visit to the doctor. If you have to stay in the hospital it is about $25-30 per day, all included.

Because Sweden is not a sh#thole country.

Domenic,
It amazes me that so few young Americans understand the implications of over 50% income tax, which is what "free" costs in Sweden.

even with 50% income-tax we still make more than the average american.

Georgiana,

You fixed nothing. I have excellent health care. I guarantee it’s better than anywhere else in the world.
Also, i can sue my “greedy” corporate provider. Try that with the government when they deny your procedure.

Chan,Nope THATS an american thing.
Yes States and the Federal Government in the us are near Impossible to get Into a court room but that isnt the case in the eu.
The People who "deny" your treatment here are a board of patients and Doctors.
I dont have to Pay 5000 $ for an Ambulance and we dont Pay 17.4 % of Bip only for Health Care sweden about 7 % and germany 10 %.
Your Health Care System piss off at least 10 % of your bip for Essential a worse Outcome than sweden.

Always amazing to see how americans are proud to be screwed by greedy companies. As long as it's not coming from the government you can do what you want to these people.

Alex,

As a man in my late 50's who was born with Asthma since early childhood, the American medical practice went from true 'health care' to a filthy, greedy 'medical industry.' What makes it worse now, is the dumbing down of it. The hiring of grossly unqualified DEI 'doctors' has ironically made it literally dangerous to seek medical attention in the US.

Dyer,

And you can’t sue those doctors either. Remember Charlie Guard? They can just decide to let you die and there’s not a damn thing you can do about it.
I don’t have to pay $5k for an ambulance ride either. It would be covered by my insurance.
My quality of care is better than yours and it doesn’t cost my 50% of my paycheck.

Chan,THATS the uk and NOT sweden or the eu.
The uk decided to take the bad aspects of BOTH
Systems and combine them.
I have to Pay 16 % for my insurance and no copayment.
The others stuff Great but get every us citizen that deal?
And THATS the difference. I Pay more and no one is Left behind and you dont care about your People only about your paycheck.

Alphus, Absolutely. So many AI pictures now, e.g. many of the huge crochet critters or impossibly realistic sand/snow sculptures. Most of them are quite nice to look at, but should be marked as AI generated.
