Ditus,
You wake up in the middle of the night, re-stoke the firepit / fireplace /Franklin stove so that the fire does not go out and the place stays warm, and then you doze back off watching the flames to make sure you did not add too much wood. Might even grab a mid-night snack while you are at it.

Thirza,
That’s because not hurting some fat bastard’s feelings is more important than their actual health.

Lidia,

Wood has an insulative property. Voids in its cellular structure are filled with air as the wood drys out which slows down the change in temperature throughout its depth. Wet wood is less insulative than dry wood. Metal conducts heat very well and as it is a darker color may be warming up faster than lighter colored materials when exposed to sunlight.

Jereme,My deck screws are driven below the surface of the wood and largely covered in dirt. Snow then overlays everything evenly enough that the screws can't be identified, til the snow starts to warm and melts above the screw first. I'm sure there is some thermodynamics involved but the process eludes me. Being buried in the deck boards and wood joists, one would think the screws would be the same temperature as the wood.

#35 Shrink inflation is a type of I "hidden inflation". When the item gets smaller and sold for the same price and it will be more expensive to buy the same amount of it. A bunch of items got 60-70% of it's original size with the same price. And these items got registered in the inflation basket as 100% sized versions. This is how it was Hungary was able to achieve 26.7% food price inflation. Which was communicated by the government as 9.9%

And while the government said the inflation is only 9.9%, the National Bank accepts a different number. Here comes the catch. Hungarian government owned telcom companies raising prices by 17-18% because this is the inflation they accept.
And people who love the current government believes thst inflation is still 9.9%. Anyone else, how can count to 100, knows thst this is a lie.
