#5 Yeah, I guess parents stopped wanting their children kidnapped on the way home, since schools now have +2000 children and are a two or three miles away.

Yeah bike lanes seem like a great idea, my town put in about a 1 mile stretch of them towards the town center. They're paved, 4+ feet wide, raised from the street with big curbs and separate from the sidewalks. Of course now the street isn't wide enough for emergency vehicles to get by when the traffic is backed up (which happens every afternoon) since people can't pull over the curbs. So one end of town now knows to schedule their emergencies around the traffic.... (oh and the bike lanes get next to no use)
