Leon, pretty much, no smartphones, so everyone had a lot more time to DO things.

As a teenager of the 80's I can tell you that it was all outside.
No cellphones, no internet, cable T.V was just becoming a thing (early 80's).
Home video gaming wasn't close to what it is today, etc.

#2 The guy on the right is pretty much what I looked like every summer in the mid 1980's while in my late teens. To be a teenager in America in the 80's was truly awesome. Real freedom and liberty.
