For a college student, the most stressful times during their educational career would have to be midterms and finals, which have the most weight on their final grade in a semester. Doing all of that study within a few-week period can be stressful and will eventually require finding avenues for destressing to bring you back to your center. Here are 4 things that college students can do to find peace while studying for midterms and final exams.


1. Play A Favorite Game

Gaming in general releases endorphins in your brain and can help you to relax when you are feeling stressed. Whether you play on a game system, your smartphone, or a gaming laptop, there are thousands of games on the market to play and enjoy in your spare time when you are done for the night with studying for your big exams. Popular games like Fornite, Diablo, and Elden Ring can be played with friends so that you can enjoy competitive and co-op gaming even when you aren’t physically with your crew.

If you are more of a college student that likes to live life on the edge, you may prefer playing casino games on a platform like betFIRST. Of course, have fun with your betting activities, but do not let them overtake your focus on your college work and other responsibilities. Designate a one to two-hour time frame for playing your favorite casino games and keep it at that so you have time to rest for those midterms or finals coming up.


2. Have a Self-Care Night

What do you like to do that makes you feel good? Is it taking a long hot shower and following up with your favorite skin care routine? Maybe it’s binging your favorite Netflix show while chilling out on the couch with popcorn and a drink. Whatever makes you feel like you are taking care of yourself, plan a self-care night that can help you recharge your batteries.

Here’s a proposed self-care night schedule that can be done once you have finished studying for exams:

     •   Take a hot shower or bath of your choosing.
     •   Watch a movie, play a game, or do something else on an electronic device for no more than one hour. Too much access to digital things can clog your mind i.e. overscrolling on social media.
     •   Engage in another favorite activity like a hobby that you do. During this time, have your phone on silent so that you can focus.


3. Just Breathe

If everything is becoming too overwhelming for you during the day, find a quiet place whether it’s your dorm room or even hiding in the bathroom to just breathe. Take a deep breath in through your nose and exhale through your mouth. Do this at least five times to help reset your body and mind back to normal. If you need even more time to breathe, go ahead and give yourself that precious time. If it means the difference between having a meltdown or finding your center again, choose the latter and keep breathing.


4. Schedule Your Day And Plan Something Fun

Schedule out your day and plan something fun for yourself to look forward to once you are all done with your college work and other responsibilities. Give yourself at least one to two hours for a self-care night, a small outing with friends, or time to do a personal project that you have been wanting to get done.

Don’t let stress bog you down while studying for those big exams. Find your favorite ways to de-stress and allot yourself time every day to relax. Your body and your mind will thank you and you will perform even better on those exams doing so.
