What possible indication is there that they are unhappy? As show dogs they are standing still and posing as they are trained to do. Show dogs are trained with positive reinforcement. Therefore doing what they are trained to do gives them positive feelings and is rewarding to them.

Definitely poor taste. Abuse? Why would it be abuse? Were animals harmed? I like it when I go out and have my hair washed, dryed, combed or brushed and such by a professional. It just feels nice and a lot of people pay a lot of money for that. Why would a dog not enjoy the same thing?

Lots of great art here. You can tell whose been doing it for a while and who's new. I've watched these contests and they are no worse than any normal grooming session. The color is non-toxic and it's just fancy haircuts.
