#38 Korea sent 141 athletes, and, with the amount of medals pictured, 7.8% has won a medal. Other countries on the list have send between 277 and 594 athletes. GB scores 327a / 5.2% and the US 594a / 4.5%.
If gold is 3 points, silver 2, and bronze 1, then Korea scores 17%, GB 11% and China 10%.
I think the number of citizens should also be taken into account, but I just don't feel like doing that now.

Rusty, It depends whether you rank countries by number of golds, or by number of total medals, or even by points per medal types.

This sounds like a good idea but also a potential apocalypse scenario, it goes out of control and spreads uncontrollably destroying all plastic on earth (and since basically everything uses plastic shutting down modern society)

Vessie,
The alternative is to cut down all of the trees to make everything out of wood, or dig-up the planet to make everything out of metal.
Plastic was seen as an alternative to these scenarios, it just needs to be managed so much better than it currently is.

Clara,

You're not wrong but a lot of plastics are petroleum based so it's still not an improvement environmentally...
