"Archaeologists believe that this seemingly normal rock found on the coast of South Africa may actually be the world's earliest example of animal art. The stone is shaped like a kite and has symmetrical markings that are almost exactly the same as those seen on blue stingrays. There is even a stub at the base of the rock where the creature's tail may have been drawn on. Researchers didn't want to damage the artifact by dating it, so they analyzed surrounding stones to determine that the drawing was likely made in sand 130,000 years ago before fossilizing into its current form."
