A lady I work with husband died falling from a 8’ step ladder. It tilted sideways and when he fell he landed on the ladder in such a way that it collapsed his lungs. I think of that every time I’m on a step ladder. I don’t fear ladders or high places but I always make sure they are secured in place really well. For my job I had to take a class that including instructions for tying off a ladder so that came in helpful. They can be dangerous.

When helmets are being tested, they are dropped from a height of 3 feet (@1 meter), because that's considered the minimum height which could cause a fatal head injury. Three feet. So imagine a fall from 6 or 8 or 10 feet.
