America may be ugly in how it designs cities (and is car-centric) but at least it is not the absolute s-hole countries like India, China, Egypt and most of the "stan"s are... just atrocious pollution and overcrowding. Won't even get into how countries like that (and Indonesia and Philippians) and just dumping their pollution and waste into the ocean. And trust me, I'm not blindly pro-America either... but jeez...

America (and by that I mean the USA in this case, which I assume you did too) is every bit as much a sh#t hole country as the ones you mention. Just in very different ways.

"we are a DIFFERENT type of sh#t hole from other countries" is not the flex you think it is. I'm currently planning a trip to the U.S later this year and one of the cities in visiting, if you ask people about it, is notorious for the number of homeless people on the streets. You might not have the rubbish on the streets of other countries but what you DO have on the streets, you treat like garbage.

"We waste so much land in America." As opposed to living in 50 story tall apartment buildings, with 200 square ft of living space.
As for those calling the USA a sh#thole I don't recall 20+ million illegals crossing third world borders to get into those counties.

All of you, it is up to you to beautify and improve your own space, quit waiting for other people (aka Government) to do it for you; they do not care, because they are too busy spending your money to improve their own space. Some of the poorest neighborhoods in my city are the most colorful because they are learning that the government does not really care so they are doing it for themselves.

Just because you live in a '50 story apartment building' or are 'packed like sardines' does not mean that you cannot add a bit of color or a potted plant to make it better. The less you rely on government to do things for you the better off you will be in the long run. Government might say that they will do this, that, or the other thing to get your vote, but once they do then something else will come along that they think needs their attention first (lobbyists, donors, special interest groups, and so on).

Take care of yourselves and your neighborhoods first and you will be better off.

Wash,
I don't actually believe you take care of cleaning up anything. You moved into a wealthy clean neighborhood and all you do is sweep and take out your trash.
Terrible neighborhoods are always trash because of the people and the government. There are too many regs and laws against it. A guy built steps for a hill in a park. The city tore it out and fined him.

#47 The most vile city I have ever been in. If you love knowing there are guns pointing at you 24/7, uncontrollable attack dogs following you, and sociopathic people who would kill you for laughs, go live in this sh#t hole. I knew a guy whose young son said the wrong thing to the wrong gang member. The gang boy and his crew made a party out of killing the kid - as slowly and tortuously as possible. Then, after he was already dead, they pummeled his corpse with baseball bats until there was nothing left for the EMTs to pick up and take away. The gang scum were teens and very early 20s. Imagine what they'll be like when they get a little more experience.
