#8 This had to be some kind of inside joke. That line is not in the book. The back story: there's a class of anti-depressants called MAO Inhibitors. They have bizarre and potentially fatal side effects. Eating certain foods while on this drug can cause hypertension, to the point of killing a person. At the top of the list are liver, fava beans(altho it's only the pods of the beans) and aged wines(and cheeses). So I have to figure someone involved in the making of the movie had some experience with the drug. ...btw; I had the hypertensive crisis after a restaurant effed up on my order. I ended up on the floor; projectile egestation from everywhere in my body; sweat running off me so profusely that I had to breath through my mouth, because through my nose I was inhaling so much of my own sweat that I was choking on it; life passing before my eyes(ie crystal clear images forming from progressively younger times in my life). It was the last time I ate at a restaurant while on that med. And if you're wondering why anyone would take the med with the potential problems: after getting nothing but other problems from all the other meds I took, the MAO Inhibitor was the only one which ever gave me any help, and it was a world beater - until I got a severe flu. After that, it never worked again. This happens with meds. The theory is that the antibodies which our bodies produce to combat an infection also form to disable the med. I've known many persons who had that happen.

So yeah, someone went off book to create that scene. Thirty years later, I'd still love to know why.
