Issy,

Chips are French fries in the UK. The joke is based on kids asking "Can we get a McDonalds?" and mum saying that we've got food at home but reversed.

Issy, Let's play Spot the Americans!

Yank here. Other than sports, I watch almost exclusively British TV.(Mostly whodunits.) So I'm pretty good with the accents, at least pretty good for a yank. But somehow, I've only recently discovered Kevin Bridges. OMFG is he funny! And whoa is his accent thick sometimes. But the good news is he's so funny that, even when I don't understand him, he's still funny. That's funny.

But I got a better one: at least twice, I've been watching a show with a Scottish character whose accent was so thick it was impossible to understand. But when I went to use subtitles, there were none in English. So I went to Spanish, and it worked. So yeah, I had to use Spanish subtitles to understand the Scot. But that's not the funny part. The funny part is...

I dinnae speak Spanish.

So yeah, Scottish. Awesome. Exotic. Strange. Incomprehensible. Yet still funny.

Ok, but also beautiful. I also only recently discovered Kenneth McKellar, and omg what a beautiful singer! I studied for the opera, so when I say beautiful singer, there's something behind that.
