Deanne, But people who love chicken nuggets see nothing wrong with pulling those out of a container as they walk and eating them; or eating fries or chips; or M&Ms ...so why not pickles?
Little difference, other than awkwardly eating dripping pickles out of a jar is unusual in public and the strong smell of dill, garlic and vinegar can be off-putting to other pedestrians. The examples you listed are dry and easily eaten on the go. Personally, ice cream cones on a hot summer day when you're dressed well are the hardest thing to eat walking around in public. So much could go wrong. Mostly, from marauding seagulls, like that one time in Scarborough. I scarcely got one lick off it!
