Karen, People have been using the long A for longer than I've been alive, and I'm 65yo. Almost anywhere the A is on a stressed syllable, there's a fight over which to use. For example: Adolf. As in Hitler. Whom we studied for all of our schooling at that time. Which is why anyone who voted for the new orange Hitler was either not paying attention in school or remains a complete moron.
