#7 You'd be stressed, too if your child could stand upright despite having no feet. (Gotta love AI LOL!)

Mindblowing facts? I don't think so.
#26 That seems like a good idea to offload all your problems to an 11 year old child...

#14. No, it wouldn't. Companies that need wood for their products grow them and replant them so they have the supply they need.

The main reason for deforestation is due to clear cutting to make room for livestock farmland or to plant other crops and harvest the materials like palm oil.

Growing trees from stemcells won't give us more farmland.

And, while manufacturing a paper bag creates FAR more air and water pollution than a plastic bag, companies that make paper aren't clear cutting forests. They're cutting farmed trees that they replant. Then they rotate the trees they cut down so the ones they plant have time to grow back. It wouldn't make much since for a company who relies on an abudant source of trees to use a finite source of wood.

#22 I've heard of SO many plastic alternatives, biodegradable plastics, bacteria or fungi, etc that have been discovered/invented to solve the plastics problem and NOTHING ever comes of it. We will continue to use plastics and continue to pollute the world and our oceans with plastics and micro plastics until we enact legislation that bans it because it is cheaper to produce than any alternative and corporations will not switch to a less harmful packaging method if it costs them even a little bit more.

Most of them don't even use recycled plastic because it's more expensive than just making new plastic.

We could have phased out single use plastics over a decade ago if not longer but there is no financial or legal reason for companies to do so.

Instead, they will keep acting like you throwing a plastic bottle into your garbage can instead of the recycling bin is the issue. It's you, the consumer's fault that plastic waste is everywhere. Bot the billion dollar corporation who uses it when there are other options, takes no responsibility to get it back and recycle it, and refuses to reuse the plastics they could.

Flora,

#14 There is also the point that regular thinning is vital to keep forests healthy.
also, where do those stem cells come from?
#22 is sadly true and it's not just plastic i have seen so many reports about revolutionary materials and technologies but they rarely/never get used because they would cost more. And let's also not forget good old planned obsolescence. Cheap items made to break after a few years so you have to buy a new one. while the wealthy are able to buy high-quality items that might cost 5x as much but easily last 10x20x the time.
