#5 I admit I've only been on one passenger train... but I don't recall the car being able to hold 250 people.

#5 All fine and good on paper, if the thousand people are starting from one place and going to another single place. How do 100 people get to that one place? The answer for most is by car. Which will require 5 acres of parking at the train station.
