Stal,Just because you don't know how to do something it doesn't mean people are lying about taking pictures of galaxies from their backyards.

He probably had his phone hooked to a telescope using an adapter.

I took a video of Saturn about 20 years ago with a webcam hooked to my telescope. I then extracted all the frames and then stacked them using image an processing software called Registax to get a high resolution image.

Stal, A Polaroid IS a point-and-shoot camera. They came out in the late '40's.
