#35 Likely reason: a walkie talkie with the call button rendered permanently open with a hair tie in a chimney. Probably to detect the sound of critters climbing down into it to nest. I suspect this because Ive had raccoons climb down my chimney and nest in our pot belly stove that we never use. The last time that happened (2 weeks ago) I just opened the stove and gently shooed him out the front door. He came back the next day so he lives there now. I heard him sneeze yesterday.
