Lamont,

Agreed. I'd like to think this is all just sarcasm, which it is, but people really think that way today. They'll s#ck the fun out of anything if it pleases.

Rebecca, its not "sucking the fun out of" anything: they are realistic appraisals of movie that, once actually studied and analysed, present certain behaviours such as stalking, lying, dishonesty, manipulation and almost obsessive fascination as positive romantic values instead of toxic manipulative behaviours. Plenty of contributors state they enjoyed the movie but they also recognise the red flags like Kurt Russell actually kidnapping Goldie Hawn and manipulating her: you do recognise that as a criminal act, correct?

#1 Imagine the absolute torture of being married to either Drew Barrymore or Adam Sandler in real life.

This story is so woke I threw up a little bit while reading it. Virtue signalling for the sake of virtue signalling is someone trying to hard to be woke and it is cringe and awkward.

#14 The movie and book are based on the true life story of Cameron Crowe, and the characters are based on actual people.

Honestly, drama requires a bit of strife, and using inappropriate relationships, which exemplify the need for conflict, is how the stories keep audience's attention. Personally, I feel all these movies are crap, while adoring many other ones that show respectful relationships as a side plot to a great A story.

"Sweet Home Alabama. She chooses the man who refused a divorce for 15 years and was disrespectful to her for most of the film. The same could be said for The Notebook. They agreed on nothing, and Ally was slapping him regularly. Very toxic love that was packaged as a fantasy."
