#1 People will soon completely forget about the massive genocide committed by the US during the gold rush. It was the largest in the history of the country: 300,000 men, women, and children were slaughtered. And it wasn't one or two big military campaigns; it was tens of thousands of regular citizens committing the same kind of extinction as that perpetrated by the Nazis, by Stalin, Lon Nol, et al. ...So now, we show 'respect' for the indigenous peoples by banning the naming of sports teams after them.
