What a sad commentary on our society that women have to take all this advice just to live a safe life.

Some of them are good suggestions and some so so. I taught my daughter to be aware but relaxed in situations. However once grabbed or physically threaten, maim or kill him. Do not just aim to hurt him. They must be dead or crippled so you can get away.

Befriending the homeless is a bad idea. Most of them are crazy and/or drug addicts.

Conrad,

Crazy drug addicts have nothing to lose by helping a friend who treats them like a person. I grew up with several homeless/near homeless, and nothing makes them willing to spend a night I a comfy jail cell with a meal, than to defend a friend being attacked.

The best advice I could give is, get into an "annoyed parent" type of attitude, and take control of the situation, even if just mentally. It throws off potential attackers if they can't control your emotions.
