#40 Here's a lesson on human nature: the do-gooders got the NFL to ban the name of the Washington football team because it was supposedly insulting. Ironic, because no native American I asked took offense to the name. In fact, several liked it because they didn't want to be completely forgotten. But no one forced the NFL to change the name of the team which represents the people who committed the largest act of genocide in American history: the Forty-Niners. The 49ers killed 300,000 men, women and children; and most of the murderers were civilians. It wasn't a few large-scale military campaigns; it was done by 'settlers' and families. It was thousands of hard-working, church-going Europeans who exterminated them like vermin, face to face. So, we're left with a monument to the glory of the settlers who slaughtered the women and children who will now be one significant step closer to being wiped completely from memory. Nice work.
