#1 HA! So the OP obviously missed the brief extended TV preview that was out for like maybe a week, which I happened to catch a couple times, both of which I happened to be by myself. I kept raving about it to my future ex-wife, but she only had only seen the regular preview and was very unimpressed, and thought it was basically some boring Disney type film, but thankfully she owed me big time for begging me to attend a boring work function with her, so she promised to go see it with me (which was the last day it was in our local theater and we caught it in the nick of time!). So we went, and of course, it was awesome! Mind you, she was not a fan of horror at all... After it was over, as we were walking back to our car she was visibly shaking and said, "Well that was a lot more intense than I thought it would be." She did like it, though.

What Dreams May Come. I'm not religious, but I studied Catholisism, and the computer visuals were still new at the time. I was stuttering when I left the theater.

Metropolis should be a honorable mention. The SFX for a 100year old movie are fantastic

"I’m not very good at picking up themes and subtleties in movies, but the first time I realized half the scenes being in reverse makes it so that the viewer has the same level of memory as the Leonard, blew me away. You see the motel guy doing him a favor and in the next scene you realize he’s just playing him, same with Natalie, makes you feel just how Leonard would feel. He was gullible because he could remember only the previous scene, and so could we cuz we hadn’t watched any scene prior to that. It made me appreciate everyone involved in the making of the movie."
