Tyler Perry Doesn’t Spoil His Son
Tyler Perry is known to live a pretty frugal lifestyle. In his 2024 appearance on Sherri Shepard’s daytime talk show, Perry talked about his strict parenting. When asked why he doesn’t buy Christmas gifts or pay for expensive flights for his son, he said, “He don't get no Christmas list...he gets two things... books and Legos. He don't have a job, what else is he going to get?”

Blah Blah Blah - must be nice to have everything and not have to worry about paying bills or putting food down for the kids. With money you can have nirvana.

People don't seem to understand that if you have enough resources to not have to worry about the weather, food and other basic needs more money does not make things inherently superior or meaningful.
Also not chasing/putting effort into status/signaling for people with already high status is almost a given. I am surprised that more celebs arnt doing "poor people things".
