Man, I was super into Jordan Peterson circa 2017 as a young black woman. Like super annoying, flying to lectures, trying to get multiple ppl to read 12 rules.
It helped me so much I wanted other people to feel empowered.His might be the biggest let down because before he fell into the right wing grift I know for a fact his psychology lectures could have really helped a lot of people learn to understand themselves and pay attention to their behavior in the world.

The bigger problem here is turning celebrities you don't know and will likely never meet into the people you look up to and draw inspiration from.
Why not admire and imitate that middle school teacher who goes above and beyond for his students? Or, what about that retired woman down the street that volunteers a couple of nights a week at the soup kitchen? Or, maybe that fireman who went back into a burning building to find the kid huddling inside a closet?
