My favorite author from about 12-18 was Orson Scott Card, he wrote Enders Game. Turns out he is a super racist who called Obama an animal. He writes sci fi and how humans and alien races can coexist…but then hates black people. What a terrible thing to find out man.

The bigger problem here is turning celebrities you don't know and will likely never meet into the people you look up to and draw inspiration from.
Why not admire and imitate that middle school teacher who goes above and beyond for his students? Or, what about that retired woman down the street that volunteers a couple of nights a week at the soup kitchen? Or, maybe that fireman who went back into a burning building to find the kid huddling inside a closet?
