I was very disappointed when it was revealed that Lance Armstrong had been doping for most of his career. And had forced others to do it.
I had believed his book when he wrote about his natural attributes to make him a great cyclist.
I threw out all my LiveStrong stuff and his book.

The bigger problem here is turning celebrities you don't know and will likely never meet into the people you look up to and draw inspiration from.
Why not admire and imitate that middle school teacher who goes above and beyond for his students? Or, what about that retired woman down the street that volunteers a couple of nights a week at the soup kitchen? Or, maybe that fireman who went back into a burning building to find the kid huddling inside a closet?
