When I did IT support this was always our first question before someone would be dispatched deskside, always got assurances that computer was shutdown every night and had just restarted and they didn't know why they always had issues. Get deskside check uptime (in front of user) and find it had been running for 45 days with no restart, restart computer and suddenly everything is working fine (always made sure to document in ticket resolution)...

Sher,

I work in IT. I know I need to restart and I will. But if I run into a problem that needs an external helpdesk, and they tell me to restart, I will continue to play solitaire while muttering "Yes.. it's restarting... almost there.. have to log in... just a sec.."

#4 Expert craftsman know how to fix mistakes. I had a half woven basket chewed up by my pup, and learned how to repair a basket as an extra lesson. Same for a painting I worked on... 2 years and my dog bumps my elbow on the main characters face. Had to fix it without damaging the paper surface.

Would be good to add a little note from which country and state those tips come from. I assume it's mostly applicable in America.
