Oktoberfest is one of the most famous festivals in the world.
And if we talk about beer festivals, it is the world’s largest one.
The Munich Oktoberfest, traditionally, takes place during the sixteen days up to and including the first Sunday in October.
This year, the Munich Oktoberfest will take place from September 19 to October 4. More than six million people are awaited to attend the event.
The festival will last for about 2 weeks, so I think this is not the last picture collection from this fun event.
Well for now let's see how it all began. By the way, there are plenty of beautiful girls inside the post ;)
A very unusual hotel has opened its doors in the city of Kaiserslautern, Germany.
It is situated in the former building of the city jail.
Customers actually sleep in a cell where windows have also bars.
The toilet is located right in the room as in an ordinary prison cell.
The only difference with a real prison is that it’s a free entry and exit; it’s possible to use a phone whenever you want and you can have excellent food.
Wacken Open Air (W:O:A) is one of the leading summer open air heavy metal music festivals. It takes place annually in a small town in northern Germany. It attracts all kinds of metal music fans, such as fans of black metal, death metal, power metal, thrash metal, gothic metal and folk metal, from around the world.
The 2009 edition set a sales record; it sold out on December 30 2008. All 70,000 tickets were sold over 200 days before the opening of the festival.
The two children you see on the first pic have a lot in common event if it’s not noticeable. So what is it? They are brother and sister – no. It’s the same person but older – almost that but there is an important detail to take into account…
Designed by Viennese artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, this incredible building was erected in Germany and called the Waldspirale or wooded spiral.
All the windows are unique, which number is over 1000: no two windows are the same. Similarly, different handles are attached in each apartment to the doors and windows. Everything is unique in there, it is U-shaped and its facade painting is awesome. It contains 105 apartments, a parking garage, a kiosk as well as a café and a bar (the last two being located at the top of the spiral). The inner courtyard contains a playground for the children of the residents and a small artificial lake.
It’s the whole package. I’d love to live there :)
I want to show you a little set of pictures made in different jails in Germany.
You will only see the shots taken in the jail cells of prisoners. Not bad, I’d say.
This interesting house was built in Germany. As you can see it is upside down and everything in it is upside down too.
It is not possible to live there, but why not to visit.
Meet Robert Schulte from Germany, the world’s most unusual group member.
The band plays heavy metal. The health state of Robert does not allow him to play or sing.
But he takes care of all that is advertising, management and website.
Whenever I see people like that, I say: hats off to them. They know how to enjoy life and more interesting, they seem never to complain. We should learn from such people.
Miniature Wonderland (German: Miniatur-Wunderland) is a model railway attraction in Hamburg, Germany and the largest of its kind in the world. As of January 2008, the railway consists of 11,000 metres (36,089 ft) of track in H0 scale, divided into five sections: Southern Germany, Hamburg and the coast, America, Scandinavia and Switzerland. Of the 4,000 square metres (43,056 sq ft) of floor space, the model takes 1,500 m2 (16,146 sq ft).
By 2014 the exhibit is due to double the number of sections to ten; the next section covering an airport, is due to open in 2009. The exhibit includes 900 trains made up of 12,000 carriages; 300,000 lights, 200,000 trees and 200,000 human figures.
All this can be seen in minor details. And judging by many photographs from there it is even hard to say that this is only a miniature, it looks very plausible.
It seems that a militant group has been formed in Berlin who’s burning luxury cars.
Mercedes, BMW and Porsche owners are worried since these cars are targets for the group.
There’s an assumption that this group has been formed because of economic recession and growing unemployment.
I think they could find a better way to protest…
The Cologne carnival is a carnival that takes place every year in Cologne, Germany. Traditionally, the "fifth season" (carnival season) is declared open at 11 minutes past 11 on the 11th of November.
Street carnival, a week-long street festival, also called "the crazy days", takes places between the Thursday (Women’s Carnival Day) before Rose Monday and ends on Ash Wednesday. All through these days, "kölsch" folks go out masqueraded.
There’s always a crazy float parade with different themes each year. This times the theme was – Politics, local, international. A lot of satire and humor.
